Reddit Shadowban Checker (Free)

Enter up to five Reddit usernames, one per line, to check whether their Reddit shadowban status. No login is required. Our free checker shows within seconds whether the account is visible, appears shadowbanned, or is suspended.

Do note that the last character * of Reddit usernames on our store is hidden to protect customers. The full username is attached in the mail.

Understanding your result

The checker gives you a quick public-profile check. It cannot always tell why a profile is unavailable, and a visible profile does not prove every post or comment is visible.

Visible

Reddit returned a public profile. Individual posts or comments may still be filtered or removed. Open a specific post while logged out if it seems missing.

Suspended

Reddit may show an account restriction or suspension notice. The current checker can group this with other restrictions. Check the account’s notices and public profile.

Not found

The username may be misspelled, deleted, or never registered. An unavailable-profile result alone cannot settle which. Check the spelling and, if you own the account, whether you can still sign in.

Possibly shadowbanned

A profile unavailable to other people while its owner can still use the account is a warning sign. The checker cannot confirm a shadowban from an unavailable profile alone. Compare the logged-out profile with the owner’s account view.

If a request fails or Reddit does not return a usable answer, treat it as could not verify, not as an account status. Try again later.

How this Reddit shadowban checker works

The checker opens the username's public profile without a logged-in Reddit session. If Reddit returns the profile, the account is visible. If it does not, the account is unavailable. A suspension response means Reddit has suspended it.

It is the same test you can perform in a private browser window, automated for up to five accounts at once.

• The checker reads public data only.
• We never ask for your Reddit password and cannot post, vote, or send messages.
• Reading a public page cannot flag or change the account being checked.

The verdict shows the account's status at that moment. Reddit may change it later. A missing profile is the usual outside sign of a shadowban, but it may also be a deleted, incorrect, or unused username. If you do not own the account, confirm the result with its owner.

What a Reddit shadowban is, and what it is not

A Reddit shadowban is a silent, site-wide limit, often linked to automatic anti-spam systems. The owner can still log in, post, comment, and vote. Other people cannot see the profile or activity. Unlike a suspension, Reddit may not send a clear notice.

Issue	Scope and source	How it appears	Who can resolve it
Shadowban	Site-wide action from Reddit	The owner can use the account, but its profile and activity are hidden from others	Reddit, through its appeals page
Suspension	Site-wide action from Reddit	Reddit sends a notice and the public profile says the account is suspended. It may be temporary or permanent	Reddit, through its appeals page
Subreddit ban	One community's moderators	The account cannot take part in that community but still works elsewhere. Reddit normally sends a ban message	That subreddit's moderators
AutoMod or community filter	Rules inside one subreddit	A post or comment is removed because of account age, karma, a word, or a link	A moderator may approve it
Reddit spam filter	One post or comment	One submission is held or removed while the profile and other activity remain visible	A moderator may review it
New-account limits	Reddit or community rules	A new account cannot use some features or post in communities with age or karma limits	Wait and meet the stated rules

If content disappears in only one community, it is almost never a site-wide shadowban. Read that community's rules or contact its moderators.

How to check for Reddit Shadowban

1. Confirm the result yourself

1. Open the profile while logged out. Visit reddit.com/user/USERNAME in a private window. A normal profile supports a Visible result. An unavailable page may mean a wrong username, a deleted account, or a restriction. Look for an explicit suspension notice rather than guessing from a blank page.
2. Check your Reddit account notices. If you own the account, sign in and read any message about a ban, lock, spam flag, or appeal. Reddit's account status overview explains the main categories. If you believe an account-level action is a mistake, follow Reddit's appeal instructions.
3. Use the r/ShadowBan check. If you control the account, follow the instructions in r/ShadowBan to request its automated check. That community's bot is another signal, not an official Reddit decision. You cannot run it for an account you do not control.

If only some new posts disappear while your profile remains visible, check those posts one by one. The public profile result alone cannot diagnose a post-level filter.

2. Using our Reddit Shadowban Tester Tool above

Simply enter the username of the account you want to check for shadowban then press the Check button.

The result should be quickly displayed in just a second, like this:

Why Reddit shadowbans accounts

Anti-spam systems look for patterns linked to abuse. This does not always mean the owner intended to spam.

Common triggers include:

• Posting the same link or comment across many subreddits in a short time
• Using an account mainly for promoting in comments
• Asking for votes or arranging votes across accounts
• Joining vote-exchange groups
• Using short links that hide the final website
• Creating a new account to work around an existing ban

Real users and older accounts can be caught by mistake. Still, a days-old account that starts posting links at once looks much like the spam these systems are built to stop.

Can a VPN cause a shadowban?

Using a VPN does not itself break Reddit's rules. The risk comes from shared VPN addresses previously used for abuse.

The address's history, not the simple use of a VPN, is the concern.

How to lower the risk

Act like a real member of each subreddit:

• Take part before promoting anything.
• Comment when you have nothing to sell.
• Avoid repeating the same link or message.
• Use full website links instead of short links.
• Never ask for votes.
• Keep promotional links to a small part of your activity.
• Give a new account time to build a normal history.

Account age helps, but real participation matters more.

How long a Reddit shadowban lasts, and how to appeal

There is no set countdown. A shadowban usually remains until Reddit reviews the account or accepts an appeal.

Some users wait months.

Accounts caught by mistake are more likely to return than accounts tied to spam, vote tricks, or ban evasion.

A shadowban does not normally expire by itself. It is permanent in practice if ignored, but Reddit can lift it after a successful appeal.

The official route is reddit.com/appeals. This page can also confirm whether Reddit currently considers the account restricted.

How to appeal

1. Verify your email address: Make sure the email linked to the Reddit account works.
2. Send one short and polite appeal: Include the username. Explain the likely cause, or say honestly that you do not know why it happened.
3. Wait for a review: Do not send many appeals in a short time.

Sample shadowban appeal

Hello, my username is u/USERNAME, and my account appears to be shadowbanned.
I believe this may have happened because REASON, although I am not certain.
I have reviewed Reddit's rules and will avoid this issue in the future.
Please review my account when possible. Thank you.

Replace the details with the truth about your account. Keep the appeal this short.

Reddit may answer in days or weeks, but the wait can be much longer. A reply is not guaranteed. It is best to leave the account quiet while you wait.

What to do if your account may be restricted

Start with Reddit's account notice and appeal page. Describe what happened, explain why you think the decision was mistaken, and ask for a review. Keep the message factual. Subreddit moderators cannot reverse a sitewide action by Reddit.

There is no reliable appeal deadline or recovery time we can promise. An appeal requests a review; it does not guarantee that Reddit will restore the account. Make plans that do not depend on a particular response date.

Do not use another account to get around an active ban. Reddit permits multiple accounts in general, but using one to evade a ban can break its rules. If you have other accounts, check their public profiles separately rather than assuming they share the same status.

Checking Several Reddit accounts at once

If you manage several accounts, paste up to five usernames into the checker, one per line. Run more batches for a longer list.

Each username receives its own visible, potentially shadowbanned, or suspended result.

The check reads public pages. It does not log in or leave activity on the accounts. Run it before a campaign, after an unexpected failure, or before buying an aged account when the full username is available.

A seller's old screenshot is not a current profile check.
